I'm pissed, I hate insurance companies

Well, I got a call the other day from my counselor and my stupid insurance will not pay for anymore counseling for me. According to DR. D my insurance will pay for only 12 visits a year. WHAT? I'm so fucking pissed off right now I feel like moving anywhere just to get out of the states. I don't have the money to just pay for it $80a week or even every other week for that matter. How could they do this to me? Counseling was really helping me. I need it now more then ever, I'm coming of Prozac right now and at a very critical state in my recovery and grieving process. I would go to a group support, but the don't have any close to me and once a month is not enough I need the one on one support. I'm so sick of it all the insurance companies care about is the fucking money and the the people they insure and their well being. I pay them all this money for what? To be charged an arm and a leg anyway.

  1. I hear your pain and frustration so much in this post. Here in WA we have counseling through the state called compass health and they normeally work with people who need the counseling but cant pay anything or just very little. Maybe it is something you could look into .

  3. That is so wrong. I'm so sorry. Do you live near a university? Sometimes they offer free or discounted counseling programs? I didn't like that my support group only met once a month, so I asked for one of the girl's email addresses so that we could check in with each other during the month. We started emailing each other, then hanging out, and now we talk almost everyday. She's been a good support for me. I'm sure it would be nice for you to have another lost baby mom as a friend.

  4. I just did some poking around and tried to find some other mom blogs who live in Florida. Are you near Sunrise, FL (My Expected End) or Melbourne (Life After Ada)?

  5. I can't believe they won't pay for any more. It's not like you're magically all better after 12 visits. It's ridiculous!!

  6. Have you checked out the Compassionate Friends website? They list support groups by state, if that helps. I only get 10 visits, so Im spacing them out. This is what's wrong with our healthcare system...

  7. Oh no, i'm so sorry. :( I would be just as angry as you. Is there anything your State offers for free couselling? Is there a way to set up a payment plan with your current counsellor? Maybe she can reduce her rates, since you have to pay out of pocket now?

I hope you can get this figured out. *hugs*

  8. I am so sorry, I know how important it is to have a counselor to talk to ... I go to mine a few times a week and it helps so much. we have something here called infoline 211 where you dial 211 and they hook you up with various services. I don't know where you live but I think 2-1-1 may be universal like 9-1-1 so that is worth a shot.I hope you can find the services you need.

  9. Sometimes big churches offer discounted rates for counseling. That is what I am doing. It is still money, but at least it's not $80/ week. Hoping that you get the help you need. ((hugs))
